Face of Jesus, Faces we Know: A Celebration of Holiness
Sunday November 3, 2013
An invitation to all parishes and communities of our Archdiocese.
In this Simple Liturgy that will express our thanksgiving for the Year of Grace and Faith your parish is invited to join with the Australian Catholic Bishops and parishes, dioceses and congregations across Australia to celebrate and recognise the graces given to all through the simple actions and witness to living faith in our families, schools, parishes and communities.
As we prepare for the concluding liturgy of the Year of Grace and Faith across our Archdiocese of Adelaide let us bring to our prayer all those people who for us are the Face of Jesus, and who bless us by their lives of holiness.
A Celebration of Holiness: I see the sanctity of God’s people, this daily sanctity. There is a ‘holy middle class,’ which we can all be part of … I see the holiness in the patience of the people of God: a woman who is raising children, a man who works to bring home the bread, the sick, the elderly priests who have so many wounds but have a smile on their faces because they served the Lord, the sisters who work hard and live a hidden sanctity. This is for me the common sanctity. [Pope Francis, Oct 15]

Faith the Great Grace
Faith is the free gift that makes possible our creedal response: “I believe".
Year of Faith
Profession of Faith – the Nicene Creed and the Apostles’ Creed
In the Adelaide Archdiocese we say the shortened version of the Profession of Faith and the Apostles’ Creed during the celebration of the Mass. The Nicene Creed contains the full text of the articles of our Catholic faith, so this is the text we will study as we gather in our Circles of Faith.
Year of Faith Logo – Within the square border are several important symbols.
The boat symbolises the Church sailing on the waves of life
The main mast of the boat is a cross
The sails show the trigram IHS a symbol for Christ
The sun in the background also represents the Eucharist
