Theology of Lay Leadership

Mr Greg Crafter

Third Forum held at Croydon Park

Mr Greg Crafter (Lawyer; former Minister of Education and Children’s Services in the SA Government, current board member of Calvary Hospitals National Board and Chair of the New Directions’ Task Force) will reflect on his own faith, work, and his call to lay Christian leadership.

My message this evening is simple and I believe to be of fundamental importance for the future wellbeing of the church in our Archdiocese. That is to emphasise the role of the laity today and in the future in building a strong and hopeful Church, in building stronger and more caring communities and a more just and fairer world.

Proclaiming the Gospel in a Secular Age

Dr Susan Holoubek

First Forum held at Croydon Park

Dr Susan Holoubek is Director of Mission at Calvary Health Care Adelaide

When James asked me to give this presentation I was very happy to oblige but two days ago when I started to think about what I should share with you all I started to panic and came very close to reneging on this commitment. I’m not certain that I have anything useful to say to you. After a lifetime of commitment to the task of faith formation and 30 odd years of involvement in pastoral renewal planning, I have finally decided that I don’t have any great solutions. But I am enormously fond of Fr James and I didn’t want to let him down so here I am!

Proclaiming the Gospel in a Secular Age

Fr James McEvoy

First Forum held at Croydon Park

Fr James McEvoy is a Lecturer in Theology at the Australian Catholic University, Adelaide.

I am honoured by the invitation to contribute to these New Directions Forums, which are an important activity of our Archdiocese. I want to reflect with you this evening both about the culture of which we are a part, and about what it means to proclaim the gospel in this culture. The New Directions pastoral planning process arises out of our Archdiocese’s strong commitment to the proclamation of the gospel. Among other things, this process is a renewed effort to bring the gospel alive in the southern part of South Australia both now and into the future. Proclaiming the gospel is the church’s fundamental task.
