Migrant and Refugee Resource Kit Launch 2016
Migrant and Refugee Week this year started with the launch of the Migrant & Refugee Resource Kit on the 19th August 2016 at Mater Christi Parish, Seaton at 7pm by Archbishop Philip Wilson. The launch was organised by Australian Catholic Migrant & Refugee Office (ACMRO), hosted by Fr Roger Manalo, Parish Priest of Mater Christi, with the support of the Catholic Multicultural Office of the Archdiocese.
Around 150 people from various communities and parishes attended the event. The program began with an official welcome by Sr Nien Tran, manager of the Multicultural Office, followed by staff members of ACMRO explaining the significance and the process of publication of the resource kit. Mater Christi Parish children and parishioners provided some wonderful entertainment.
Fr Maurizio Pettena, National Director of ACMRO spoke about Pope Francis message for the 102nd World Day of Migrants & Refugees with the theme “Migrant and Refugees Challenge Us; The responses of the Gospel of Mercy.” After the official proceedings, a light supper with multicultural food was organised by Filipino Catholic Community. Every one enjoyed the occasion and cherished the opportunity coming together to reflect and pray for migrants and refugees who very much need our support at present.
