Accreditation of Pastoral Associates Policy

Pastoral Associates support the mission and pastoral care of the parish community in accordance with the precepts, teachings and practices of the catholic church and as such is a formally recognised public ministry. Specific areas of ministry vary depending on the needs of an individual parish but will involve working under the direction of a Parish Priest and as part of a team to ensure that the pastoral , spiritual and formative needs of the community are met. A Pastoral Associate is an accredited person appointed by the Archbishop.

The normal pathway into lay ecclesial leadership will be the Ministry Formation Program. Some other pathways will be considered by the Accreditation Committee for equivalency.

Professional Development is provided for Pastoral Associates and they are also encouraged to seek out their own Professional Development opportunities

Pam Priadko and Jill Gallio are available to work in Parishes with Bereavement teams or with those who are undergoing change in their Parishes. The Understanding Change, Loss and Grief Seminar is designed for use in a wide variety of contexts where groups and individuals are seeking to deepen their general understanding of the nature and impact of change, loss and grief on their lives or in their workplaces.  (3 hour seminar).

Exploring the Seasons of Grief small group program is based on Worden's four tasks of grieving and is designed to provide an in depth understanding of the impact of loss and grief on an individual's well -being. (4 weekly sessions) .
