About Us

Message From The Chairman

Thank you for visiting the Catholic Charities website.

Catholic Charities operates in the Archdiocese of Adelaide. Our primary role is to raise money by way of donations in order to partly fund the works of several Catholic Church charitable agencies.

As a matter of record these agencies are not established to help needy Catholics. They are there to provide critical care for all needy people irrespective of their religion or race or colour.

When you click through to the charitable agencies you will see that poverty wears many cloaks in our modern society.

Poverty may have been brought about because:-
  • you have become homeless
  • you are a refugee
  • you are 15 and have been thrown out of home
  • you have been subjected to mental, physical or sexual abuse (often all three)
  • you are black
  • you are deaf
  • you are a single woman without a home
  • you are intellectually disadvantaged
  • you may be a young girl who is pregnant and has no support from home

Our fundraising consists of:
  • direct mail campaign to our regular donors
  • an annual appeal to all parishioners in the Archdiocese
  • an annual badge day
  • salary deduction programs by employees in the Church offices and schools
  • specific fundraising in Catholic schools
  • fundraising events
  • legacies from people who have passed away

Many people now donate by credit card and some elect to make regular donations throughout the year using the card. With the introduction of this website donors will now be able to donate on line.

Again thanks for your interest and your support will be sincerely appreciated.
