Drug Education

Drug education addresses issues around health, personal responsibility and safety, social influences and strategies to reduce the risks associated with medication, alcohol and other drugs.

Drug education is included in curriculum areas of health, personal development, pastoral care, religious education and society and environment and may be addressed as part of the co-curricula programs at camps, retreats and music and drama eisteddfods.

Drug education includes:

  • classroom programs for all students from Reception to Year 12 (R-12), informed by our Catholic ethos, that promote safe environments, building skills for a healthy lifestyle and promoting resilience in young people
  • policy development and practices to manage medication and the health and safety of all in schools
  • a partnership with parents and the local community to address drug related issues
  • service to schools provided by the Catholic Education Office including professional learning for staff, advice for school leaders, student support and specific funding for implementing prevention and intervention programs.
