Indigenous Education
The Indigenous Education Team works with school leaders, teachers, parents and caregivers and Indigenous students to help students achieve their very best in their schooling.
Support includes:
- Individual student case management
- Funding support for individual students with learning needs
- Consultation with principals and teachers about students
- Support for students in transition
- Liaison with tertiary educational institutions, training and employment providers and individual students
Programs such as:
- Yellakka Yellarkarri, a three-day leadership program for Indigenous secondary students
Ngunyawaieti, a three-day expressive arts program for students in the middle years - Information about Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS), Parent School Partnerships Initiative (PSPI) and ABSTUDY
Members of the team also assist school communities to deepen their understanding of Indigenous cultures and issues by creating meaningful learning experiences and developing materials for inclusive curriculum.
