History of CTCHistory of CTC within the Adelaide College of DivinityIn 1979, St Francis Xavier Seminary joined with other theological colleges in Adelaide to form the Adelaide College of Divinity (ACD). Since 1980, students from these colleges have enrolled in courses in the ACD and in undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Flinders University. The ACD is an ecumenical consortium, and each college retains its own identity, but cooperates within the ACD for joint teaching of courses. There are four denominational theological colleges on the ACD campus that form the ACD consortium – Catholic Theological College of South Australia (CTC - Roman Catholic) Coolamon College (Uniting Church – distance mode only), Parkin-Wesley College (Uniting Church) and St Barnabas’ Theological College (Anglican). Faculty teaching in both Flinders and ACD courses of study have their offices in these colleges. In 1996 the Anglican, Catholic and Uniting churches purchased a common teaching site and in September, 1997 the respective Colleges moved to what is now known as the ACD Campus. Teaching began on the new Campus in October 1997 and the Campus was officially opened in November that year. The owner churches have created an incorporated body to manage the Campus, the Adelaide Theological Colleges Campus, Inc. (ATCC). The ACD is itself the registered private provider of theological education - offering awards in Certificates I, II and IV in Ministry, the Diploma in Pastoral Ministry, the Bachelor of Ministry and the Master of Ministry. The ACD has an agreement with Flinders University through which its constituent member colleges provide the teaching of Theology degrees in the School of Theology. Catholic Theological College of South Australia is now the Roman Catholic member college of the Adelaide College of Divinity (ACD) and as such is committed to ecumenical theological education and is an essential contributor to the degree programmes of the Flinders University and to the awards offered through the ACD.
