Bible Lands Study Tour (THEO 3210)
led by Rev Dr Michael Trainor
This topic consists of a month's study-tour of 2 or more of the following countries: Israel, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Sinai. It is prepared for by two weekends of reflection and study. The tour itself and the two preliminary study sessions aim to assist participants to gain an appreciation of the religious, political, economic and cultural environment of Ancient Israel, Jesus and the early Christian Community in the first century.
Through study in situ particpants will become familiar with the geography and archaeology of Israel and the Middle East and will develop an understanding of the milieu in which the Old and New Testaments were written. This Tour is open to everyone and anyone who might be interested, and is not just limited to students enrolled at the Adelaide College of Divinity or Flinders University. However, those who undertake the Tour for interest only will be asked to enrol as audit students with the Adelaide College of Divinity. No course work or study will be expected.
