Adelaide Theological Library - History

In 1985 a new library was opened at the St Francis Xavier Seminary site at Rostrevor. The library was named GLEESON LIBRARY after Archbishop Gleeson, Archbishop Emeritus of Adelaide.

In 1997, when St Francis Xavier Seminary moved to the joint ACD Campus, the collection was combined
with the original collections of the other constituent Colleges, Parkin Wesley, (PWC)  Saint Barnabas (SBC) and the Society of the Sacred Mission of St John’s Priory, to form the Adelaide Theological Library (ATL)

The Adelaide Theological Library
is located on the first floor of the ACD Campus building. The collection includes over 200 current periodical titles and over 60,000 volumes. There is a significant collection of rare books, some of which were originally part of the St Francis Xavier Seminary Library

The ATL is affiliated with the
Flinders University Library and is open to members of the wider Church community and the general public.
