Ministry Formation Program
In his “Apostolic Exhortation on the Vocation and Mission of the Lay Faithful in the Church and the World” (Christifideles Laici), John Paul II describes baptism as the source for the participation of everyone in the Church – whether lay, religious or ordained – in the mission of Christ. This program prepares participants for appointment to Ecclesial Ministries
The Ministry Formation Program is a 4 year half-time program based at Catholic Theological College which incorporates the Adelaide College of Divinity's Associate Degree of Ministry (72 units, or two thirds of the Bachelor of Ministry). The program integrates this core academic component within four key aspects of formation – human, spiritual, theological, pastoral. Selection of Candidates
Selection will be based on a personal process of discernment of the participant’s baptismal call to ministry. This will include:
Funding
The archdiocese provides funding for the explicit formation components of the program. Candidates will need to fund costs for the Associate Degree of Ministry. The total cost will be over $8,000 per person. FEE-HELP is provided by the Federal Government, a scheme which enables eligible students to ‘borrow’ money to pay for their degree, with the obligation to repay in increments as part of their tax payments once they reach an annual income threshold.
