Certificate IV in Ministry (Spiritual Direction)

 
Part I.
This two-year ecumenical program for the formation of spiritual directors. Experience of having received spiritual direction over a period of time is essential and some evidence of background in Spiritual Formation. Those wishing to begin this formation will need a personal interview with the Directors of this Course.

Participants in this program will learn that the role and action of God is crucial to the spiritual direction enterprise.

This program incorporates a wide variety of topics: personal prayer/sharing, exercises in active listening, input on theory and practice of spiritual direction, basic psychology, religious experience in the Christian tradition, presentation of focusing papers, peer-group supervision.

Part II.
The second year builds on and continues the aims and objectives of Part I.
This is an experiential program, whereby participants learn how to be spiritual directors by the actual practice of spiritual direction for at least two hours each week. Each participant will have a supervisor who closely monitors all practical work.
