Welcome to the Vocations Pages
Today growing numbers of people recognise one of the "best kept secrets" of the Catholic faith - that every one has a vocation. The secret is now out, and the good news continues to spread. It's a great journey!
For much of the 20th century, many believed that only priests, religious brothers and sisters had a "vocation", and that their lives were more favoured in God’s eyes than those who did not have a calling.
If you are visiting this site to find out more about a vocation to the priesthood or religious life, you have taken the first step. This site will help you take the next steps to find out more about vocations.
Archbishop Wilson’s Message
Each person has a vocation through the unique call of Baptism. To respond to this unique call is an invitation to everyone. What is your response?
This site tells you about the people and activities of the Adelaide Vocations Office.
Ordination is a Sacrament and so each priest is a sign of Christ as leader and servant of the church community. In the place of Christ he is priest, teacher, and shepherd. A priest is an immediate sign of our living faith tradition that began with the apostles.
A priest consciously promotes the unique vocation and mission of all the baptised, and them in the building up of God's kingdom. All this is expressed in the celebration of the Eucharist, the other sacraments and all of the pastoral care a priest ministers to the faithful. Priesthood is a gift of God to the church for the kingdom.
I commend this site to you. I hope that it will help in your understanding of the priesthood. I pray with confidence that God will call many more to the priesthood for service in our Archdiocese.
