Stand Up Against Poverty
October 16-18, 2009
Stand Up Against Poverty is a worldwide call to take action against poverty and inequality and for the Millennium Development Goals. Participants across the globe will stand up together to symbolise their unity and to show that they refuse to stay silent or seated in the face of poverty.
Stand Up is the world’s largest mobilisation. It is a worldwide initiative seeking to end poverty, address its causes and achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
In 2008, 117 million people worldwide joined together through Stand Up (a Guinness World Record), including over 207,000 Australians who participated in Stand Up events around the country.
