Child Safe Environment

The Catholic Church in South Australia recognises the dignity of all children and young people before God. The Catholic Church community plays a significant role in the promotion of an environment that nurtures the wellbeing of children, young people and their families. This role should be reflected in the actions of every person involved in the Catholic Church community.

To assist the Archdiocese of Adelaide and the Diocese of Port Pirie work toward a Child Safe Environment the South Australian Catholic Child Protection Council was established in 2004.  Since its inception the Council has developed important policy and procedural documents.

The Child Protection Charter was launched in 2005.

The Child Protection Policy was developed and launched in 2006.

The Child Protection Guidelines to assist implementation of the Policy are currently being developed.
