The Catholic Archdiocese of Adelaide is committed to developing and maintaining a child safe environment.

In 2005, Archbishop Wilson established a Police Check Unit, with the responsibility for the effective police screening of all employees and nominated volunteers within Parishes, Diocesan Schools and other Diocesan Agencies who have direct contact with, access to records or authority, over children and young people under the age of 18 years, or other vulnerable groups including the disabled and the elderly.

Police Checks will be conducted every three years (maximum) or as required by changes in job/task responsibilities. All care is taken to ensure the privacy of individuals is respected and maintained at all times throughout the process.

The Police Check Unit is the central coordinating area for all police checking for the Archdiocese of Adelaide.
