 Ministry in Adelaide

He came to Adelaide the following year arriving in Adelaide on December 6, 1918 and soon after was appointed assistant priest in the Cathedral parish.

On January 31, 1925 he was appointed parish priest of Naracoorte where he remained for nine years. In February 1934 he became the parish priest of Hectorville.

Hectorville was a new parish and on February 1, 1934 Tranmere/Magill was cut off from the Norwood Mission and became part of the newly formed Hectorville parish. Ten years later on April 1, 1944 Tranmere became a parish in its own right with Fr Martin Comey appointed as the first parish priest.

His next and final appointment was as parish priest of Lower North Adelaide.

While at North Adelaide he began to have serious health problems and as a result he retired on March 30, 1961 and returned to Ireland to live with his family.

He died on February 11, 1969 at home in Listry, Co Kerry. Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated in the parish church at Listry and he was buried in the parish cemetery at Listry.

May he rest in peace.
